DETAILS This 340-acre development in western Montana about six miles from the center of Missoula is on land that was once part of a cattle ranch. It includes an 18-hole links-style golf course that opened in 2004. Around 100 houses and town houses were constructed with the public course originally, but early this year it was sold and plans for this new residential project began. The course will become private, and its holes will be lined with 95 full-ownership, three- to five-bedroom cabins and 126 homesites as large as a half acre. Plans call for 41 town houses and condos to be built at some point in the future. The course’s clubhouse, which now includes a restaurant and a pro shop, is currently being renovated. The restaurant will be expanded and a lounge, a wine cellar for owners, a coffee bar, a full-service spa and a fitness center will be added. The pool will be built nearby and tennis courts will be offered as well. A barn is being converted into a golf academy with simulators, cameras for video analysis and outdoor hitting areas. The Clark Fork River, one of the many waterways in the area known for fly-fishing, is not far south of the site, and Montana Snowbowl, with ski runs as long as three miles, is also nearby. The airport in Missoula has flights from Chicago, Denver, Seattle and elsewhere.
